Ashes and Embers

Fleeting moments, towering stood
Fading sky of burning wood

A fire, there was a fire

 Ember-brightened darkness
Sailors, be wary, hark
Speak the sea, we listen

A flame, there was a flame

A plummet to death,
Like meteors in
The night they flew
Spreading the ashes
Over the carrion
Of a deceased landscape

    Drowned, by the ocean
     Under the waves
      Sank now to the bottom
   The ashes and embers
