In the darkened expanse of the night
I witnessed stars radiating their brilliance
from light years away
Time went by in the frozen continent
and hours later
nothing had changed
The stars held me as captivated as ever
Such as a cluster of a billion diamonds
marking the depth of the sky
And I like a fascinated traveler
willingly gave in to their twinkling purity.
Hey there. I’m Anukriti: student, reader, and an occassional blogger/digital journaler. I belong to the generation that advocates the interdisciplinary aspect of our times, which means I believe in the harmonious fusion of different frontiers of human knowledge. Science and art, commercial photography and honest journalism, science and faith,
Wonderful websites creating digital soul-food like Brainpickings, Humans of New York, and the wonderful On Being public radio and podcast are some forms of my regular online sources of mental nourishment apart from books of course.
Literature , one of those forms of expression that captures through words emotions and experiences of one individual, bound together by a tapestry of carefully interwoven sentiments, selflessly bestows it onto the curious mind that dare ask for it and yet, such a vast hoard of knowledge that the reader encounters through association transcends the gap between generations, only to leave a lasting impression on the curious reader as if the author of the writing in question were recounting those tales to you in person.
It so follows that this unique treasure of experiences entails imagination: in the words of J.K. Rowling, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and therefore the fount of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathise with humans whose experiences we have never shared.” It is putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and bear the compassion to empathise with their atrocious experiences, of learning and understanding, without having experienced.
It is a humbling experience to be part of it, to be enveloped in its grasp liberates the bounds of one’s mind — stretching them to limits previously inconceivable. Such as the opening lines to this introduction that I wrote might tell you as much, I am humbled to be able to say that I have contentedly found myself caught in the threads of this very abundant stretch of wisdom.
I hope that others can find the same solace among words that they have thus provided to so many others, and moved their worlds in a drastic way. Between Lanes is about this love.
Hope to hear from you. This is speakerforwild.
